Tracheostomy in-service: is it mandatory?

Yes it is mandatory. If you are unable to attend the in-service, you are responsible for reviewing the tracheostomy competency and following it when you need to do trach cares and suctioning.

No! That is why Colin is available M-F 8-5 and makes rounds M, W, Thurs. If something needs addressed after hours, call the on-call physician.

Check the skin book. They are located at each nurse's station and they are scheduled depending on the day of the week.
