To protect the people of America from having their rights taken away by the government.

The right to refuse to quarter (house) soldiers in your house.

Protection from:
Excessive Bails and fines
Cruel and unusual punishments
What is the 4th amendment?
The government has to have a warrant to search you and your belonging.
What is the 9th amendment?
The rights listed are not the only rights given to the people.
What is the 5th amendment?
You have the protection from
Self incrimination (tell on yourself)
Being tried for the same crime twice
Prosecuted without an indictment
Loss of property without compensation
What is the 10th amendment?
The rest of the rights not given to the federal government are given to the states and the people of America.
