When do you use a typeform indicator?
Only when it "adds" meaning to the braille text. Not when it offers an aesthetic or design element.

No

No. It cannot be used in the beginning of a word

Can strong wordsigns (child, still, etc) be used in words?
No. The "ch" for child would be read as "ch" in a word. The exception is hyphenated or apostrophed words, like still-life or child's

What is the inches symbol?
2 dropped "g"
Can "st" and "th" be used in numeric mode?
No. They are designed for literacy, contractions are not used in math braille.

Are currency signs used before or after the numeric mode indicator?
Before the numeric mode indicator
What is the precent sign?

Can you use a contraction in a true compound word?
Yes and No. If the contraction "bridges" the two words together, like the "gh" in foghorn. But, you can use contractions in other parts of a compound word.

If any letter of a contraction is preceded by a typeform indicator, can the contraction still be used?
No. The contraction can only be used if the type form indicator does not "break up" the contraction. Refer to page 146 for more information.

When can you use the dot 5 contraction "one"?
When it is pronounced as one syllable, or is in a word that ends with "oney" or are in "honest" and "monetary" and their derivatives.
