Definition of "Deforestation"
The decrease in forest areas across the world that are lost for other uses such as agricultural croplands, urbanization, or mining activities.
Definition of "Life Zones"
Areas with similar plant and animal communities.
A variable that shows how steep the landform is.
Definition of "Transportation Networks"
A network or graph in geographic space, describing an infrastructure that permits and constraints movement.
Definition of "Forest area change"
The sum of all changes in forest area over a specific period of time.
Real world example of Deforestation
Deforestation in Amazon Rainforest
Life Zones featured in my paper (give 4)
Tropical, Premontane, Lower Montane, Montane
The form data is represented in
Percentage number
Largest transportation network
Roads
Associated Variables
Life zones, Slope gradients, Transportation Networks
Deforestation in Taiwan?
Biggest forest life zone assessed (check my paper)
Premontane wet life zones
The trend between the number and slope
The lower the percentage is, the more shallow it is.
Examples of Transportation Networks other than roads (give 3)
Railways, Air routes, Pipelines, Aqueducts, and Power lines.
Researcher's method of assessment
Using a geographically referenced database
Causes of Deforestation (give 3)
Urbanisation, Industrial agriculture, Overexploitation of wood
Effect of Life Zones on forest area (and why)
The type of life zones can effect whether the forest clearing rates are high or low. If the life zone is desirable to humans, the forest clearing rate would be higher.
Relationship between slope percentages and forest clearing rates (and why)
The higher the slope percentages, the lower the forest clearing rates. This is because the steeper the slope is, the more inacessible it is to people.
Relationship between transportation networks and forest clearing rates (and why)
Expansion of transportation networks will increase the accessibility of the forests there, making it easier to clear land and increase forest clearing rates.

Consequences of Deforestation (give 3)
Lose biodiversity, Accelerate climate change, Disrupt ecosystem systems
The year and type of life zone of the largest forest clearing rate determined. (check my paper)
In 1983, in the Permontane moist life zone. (16.7)
By 1983, a type of relationship existed between primary forest reduction and slope gradient. (check my paper)
The type of data the researchers looked at for transportation-related forest clearing. (check my paper)
The distance of any forest location to the nearest road or railroad.
