What Photopea tool should I use if I quickly wanted to make an oval?
Ellipse tool
(also goes by "shape tool")
What is the difference between shape and form?
Shape: 2D, within a 2D artwork
Form: 3D, takes up space
Does something in my artwork have to actually be moving to show the principle of "movement?"
No, something does not have to be moving to show movement.
You can have 3D artwork that does physically move like a sculpture with moving gears, for example, but you can also have elements of your artwork that allow for eye movement. For example, wavy lines, rolling hills or bumps, a picture of movement frozen in time, etc.
If I am creating a design over a background image, what are the first two things I should do to that background layer?
1. Duplicate it
2. Lock the original
(then if you need to, you can click the eyeball off the background layer and just have it there for reference to the original image when needed)
When submitting any Photopea assignment, what two file types do I need to submit to Canvas?
.jpg and .psd
If I am working on a project in Photopea, what should I always include in the name of my file?
First and last name!
What are the 7 elements of art?
Line, Shape, Form, Texture, Space, Color, Value
What are the 7 Principles of Design?
Movement, Balance, Scale/Proportion, Rhythm/Repetition, Unity, Contrast, Emphasis
If I have various parts to a design I am creating, what is something important to keep in mind regarding the layers?
You should break up your artwork by various layers depending on what you are creating and what tools you are using.
Another possible answer would be to keep in mind that the layers at the top of the layers panel can be moved below if you need something to appear behind something else.
Also, keep in mind that you can turn the eyeball on and off, so you don't really have to delete layers, just turn the eyeball off and that way when you submit your .psd, I can see that you tried different things before you reached your final result.
If I submit something after the original due date, what do I have to do in order for it to be graded?
Email Ms. Wittstock letting her know that the particular missing assignment has now been completed & submitted.
I just created a shape. How can I rotate it on its side?
Go to "Edit," then "Free Transform" (or "transform"), hover over the edge of the shape with your mouse, then when you see the rotation arrow, click and drag to rotate.
If you do "transform," there are options you can select that say different rotation options.
Either would work fine for this scenario.
Name 2 elements of art that you think are important when creating a logo or design that is meant to draw someone's attention? Why/how are those 2 elements important in this scenario?
*Answers may vary*
Example: Color and Line because if you use strong, recognizable colors like orange and purple for Dunkin Donuts, that would most likely get's someone's attention much easier than colors like brown and grey. If your design has bold lines then that draws the viewers eye to it.
Name the 3 different types of balance.
Symmetrical, Asymmetrical, and Radial
If I am using the pen tool on Photopea, what are the dots called that branch off from each end of an anchor point?
Handles
(also called direction lines)
What are the first TWO things I should do when I join the class Zoom session each day?
1. Turn my camera on for attendance
2. Open up the agenda on my Chromebook/computer to access necessary links and see what the activities are for the day.
(BONUS POINTS if you say look at the awesome meme for the day)
If I am using the pen tool on Photopea, what are the little dots called that are created every time I click with my mouse?
Anchor Points
What is value?
Does value have to only be black and white, or can you show value with color?
Variations of light and dark; the lightness and darkness of an object or color.
Yes, value can certainly be shown with colors. For example, variations of the color purple from dark purple to lavender.
What is radial balance? AND give an example!
When you have the same element repeating around in a circular manner. If you were to cut something with radial symmetry in half, it would be symmetrical no matter where you made the cut.
For example, a rose window, a starfish, the target logo, etc.
What specific tool would I use if I wanted to adjust different points in a design I just made with the pen tool?
Direct Select tool
What is one (accurate) interesting fact about Ms. Wittstock?
*Answers may vary*
If I want to make something more transparent, what do I need to change/adjust for that layer (or tool)?
"Opacity"
Give 5 examples of different textures.
*Answers may vary*
Some examples: Smooth, bumpy, scratchy like tree bark, soft like a dogs fur, prickly like a hedgehog, etc.
Also, give an example of a character from a cartoon that has contrasting colors somewhere on them.
*Answers may vary*
Some examples of contrasting colors: Blue and Orange, Yellow and Purple, Green and Red
An example of a cartoon character with contrasting colors: The grinch because he is green while he wears a red Santa suit.
What is composition?
Name 3 of the 6 techniques to consider when making sure your artwork/design has a good composition?
(Both parts above must be answered correctly to receive full points)
Composition is the arrangement of objects within the frame. An interesting composition typically does not have the focal point of your artwork right smack in the middle of the piece.
Techniques: Off Center, Cropping, Fill the Frame, Rule of Thirds, Framing, Rotate & Overlap
