Translate the quote into modern English AND explain how it relates to the theme of Love.
"Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here!
Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear,
So soon forsaken? Young men’s love then lies
Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes."
Translation:
"Holy Saint Francis, this is a drastic change! Have you given up so quickly on Rosaline, whom you loved so much? Then young men love with their eyes, not with their hearts."
Theme: It relates to the theme of Love as Romeo was in love with Rosaline in the beginning of the play and was crying over her. Now that he has met Juliet and experienced true love, he no longer thinks about the other girl. Friar Lawrence cannot understand how Romeo can so quickly forget his past love and move on to someone new - he insinuates that Romeo (and other men) care only for looks.
