What were the "Laws of the Twelve Tables"? (How did they come about and what were their purpose?)
The Plebeians (poor class) were tired of having no say and no representation in the Roman government. As a form of protest they refused to fight in the Roman army. The "Laws of the Twelve Tables" were a compromise between the Patricians (rich class) and Plebeians in ancient Rome. They were a series of laws that applied to all citizens, whether they were rich or poor.
