one box is split in half vertically with one column shaded. then it is split into thirds horizontally making 1/2 into 3/6. two of the shaded boxes would be marked out leaving the answer to be 1/6
The other box is split into thirds horizontally with one column shaded. then it will be split in half vertically making 1/3 into 2/6.
=3/6 - 2/6 = 1/6
