What does the term Emancipation mean?

Emancipation means freeing people from slavery. For example, in the British Caribbean, it happened in 1834 when enslaved people were officially set free.

Define the term Apprenticeship System

The Apprenticeship system was a temporary setup that followed emancipation. It required freed individuals to work for their former owners for a few years without pay, in exchange for training and a chance to adjust to their new lives. However, it often led to unfair treatment, and it was ended in 1838, when all former slaves became completely free.
