Assent occurs when a learner verbally or nonverbally agrees to participate in treatment. Pay attention to the learner’s body language, facial expressions and vocalizations.  How the learner engages with the practitioner determines whether or not s/he is providing assent. 

Assent withdrawn may look like elopement, tantrums, SIB, or removal of joint attention/turning body away.

How can you tell a behavior is likely one of these functions: Attention, Escape, Tangible, Sensory

Attention- Attention is diverted elsewhere, behavior occurs, attention is provided. Behavior increases in the future when attention is diverted. 

Escape- Behavior occurs after a demand is place/ aversive activity is presented AND the behavior increases when escape is provided.

Tangible- Item is out of reach, behavior occurs, access to item is given. Behavior increases in the future when attempting to obtain access to an item

Sensory- Behavior occurs when the child is alone or without social reinforcement

How do you report and document client incidents? EX (incident resulting in bruises, cuts, scratches, bumps, elopement from building, use of holds, employee injury)

On central reach navigate to the client's dashboard by clicking their name on your schedule.

Navigate to notes and forms and add new note.

Add the note "Client Incident Report" and fill out completely.
