How did old immigrants differ from new immigrants?            500  points

Before the 1870s Old immigrants were usually Protestants from Western and Northern Europe and came to settle in the US as families and usually worked on farms. Some in later years were German and Irish who were Catholics and had some trouble due to prejudice but they still were able to blend into AMerica more especially the Irish who spoke English. The New immigrants arrived from Eastern and Southern Europe after the 1870s were usually Catholic or JEwish and were mostly unskilled, poor and lived in cities instead of Farms and they usually spoke their own languages. They often came to not settle but to work and make money and then go home.
