Built in 1926 as Houston's main library. The Julia Ideson Building is now a COH Protected Landmark and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is also a beloved treasure of Houston’s downtown landscape showcasing Houston’s history and architecture.

Digital Strategies

A program involving strategy, role-playing, and twenty-sided dice. Participants will engage in long form RPG gaming, building character, cooperation and leadership skills in the process.

Dungeons & Dragons

Service that provides resources for youth, first time college seekers, and adult learners. Services are free and accessible with experienced staff available to ensure all learners are college and career ready.

A research library that preserves, promotes, and celebrates the rich history and culture of African Americans in Houston, the surrounding region, and the African Diaspora.

Also provides direction, support, resources, and coordinate oversight for a variety of programs for all ages that take place to our HPL locations.
