What is the Truman Commission?
the various identities and experiences that may exist amongst students, faculty, and staff on a campus (gender, race, sexuality, age, socioeconomic status, etc.)
What is Diversity?
This is when a person uses their own beliefs, identity, and social relations rather than relying on external authorities. It is a necessary foundation for contemporary higher education learning outcomes.
What is Self-Authorship?
This is a person who is attending college whose parents or sometimes family members did not earn a degree.
What is a First Generation Student?
things that may stand in the way of a student being able to attend higher education, it can include things like financial concerns, personal concerns (family, children, etc), and not feeling prepared academically
What are Barriers to Higher Education
the collective perception and attitude of a college or university community regarding the level of respect for individual needs, abilities, and potential

This refers to the concept of race, class, and gender and how it affects students experiences in higher education.
What is Intersectionality?
It is a set of education benefits for military veterans and their families.
What is the GI Bill?
a multifaceted concept encompassing a student's psychological investment, active participation, and connection to the academic and campus community. It involves three main dimensions: cognitive (effort, critical thinking), emotional (interest, passion, a sense of belonging), and behavioral (attending class, participating in activities, and completing assignments)
What is engagement
a university’s failure to respond to a particular instance or to overall take care of their students (physical, emotional, and mental well-being)

This is when college students begin to have the awareness of the external voices and their own internal voices and beliefs.

What is NASFAA?
Also called the eclectic theory, it suggests that there is no ‘one size fits all” approach to learning, depending on a student’s needs individually
What is The Individualized Theory?
Acknowledging the reality of race as an existing social construct and a factor in people’s experiences, recognizing the systemic nature of racism, and how it is ingrained in society.
What is Race-Conscious Frame
These are part-time and full-time non-tenured faculty who have other full-time jobs
What is Contingent/Adjunct Faculty?
They work to advocate for student affairs professionals and students academic success.
What does NASPA do?
