What is the difference between a Formative and Summative assessement? What percentage is each worth when figuring out your total grade?
Summative Assessments are end of the Chapter assessments. These can be but are not limited to: Common Assessments, Quizzes, and end of chapter projects.
Summative assessments count for 70% of the student’s grade.
Formative Assignments are completed during a chapter. These are used to monitor student learning and adjust instruction. These can include but are not limited to:
mid-chapter quizzes, daily practice, quiz reviews, chapter Are You Ready’s, class work, exit slips (when specified).
Formative assignments/assessments count for 30% of the student’s grade.
