Characteristics of good communication involves respect, trust, honesty, empathy, sensitivity, humor, knowledge, patience, commitment, and self-esteem.

Beneficence means to do good. Examples: Put the client's interest first- giving hand off before leaving.If you make a med error- report it immediately and be accountable. Going to work sick and infecting everyone.
Define Autonomy
Autonomy is being free to choose. Respecting a client's right to choose a course of action and independence. Client's must be well informed to make decisions.
Define Fidelity
Be True. Be faithful to the charge of acting in the client's best interest when the patient's capacity is no longer available. Be honest. Do what's best for the patient.
Define Justice
Justice is delivering fair and equal treatment to all clients. Recognizing and avoiding your own personal bias.
Define Beneficient paternalism
Beneficient paternalism is being disrespectful toward the client and what the client has to offer. Disregarding the client's input and feeling. An " I know what's best for you" attitude.
Explain assertiveness. Give examples.
Assertiveness is being honest. Do what you say you are going to do. Do not make false promises. Own your feelings. Do not blame others. Begin statements with "I". Be sure your non-verbal communication matches your body language.
Define aggressive behavior. Give examples
Aggressive behavior is being outspoken and lacking consideration for others. Violates the rights of others. Dominating or putting the other person down.
Define non assertive behavior. Give examples.
Passive- fear based. Emotionally dishonest, self-defeating. Looks the other way. Lack of eye contact. Hesitancy when speaking.
