Sing the Toast Song

Here's to Alpha Phi Omega,
Loyal Brothers we,
True to self and to each other
Firm in loyalty.
Daily working, daily striving,
Ever more to be,
True to Alpha Phi Omega,
Our Fraternity.
Brothers clasp the hands of Brothers,
Strong the circle we,
Ever mindful, ever serving
All humanity.
Now we raise our grateful voices,
In our song to thee,
True to Alpha Phi Omega,
May we always be.

Four reasons why women were officially allowed to join APO
  1. Anti-establishment movement → resulted in drop in membership for many campus organizations → many chapters became inactive and admitting women as members was seen by many as the answer to declining membership
  2. Women’s liberation movement → popular movement that caused many college students to question restricting membership in a service organization to men
  3. Chapters already incorporated women → before 1976, many chapters were already incorporating women into their membership in many ways (accepting women as sisters, registering women under an alias, etc.)
  4. Title IX Federal Higher Education Act → passed by Congress in 1972 → denied federal funding support to institutions that allowed organizations with restricted membership → many APO chapters were at risk of losing campus recognition if they did not start to admit women

These are the 6 major areas of programming of Alpha Phi Omega as defined in our Bylaws.

What is risk management?

Risk Management is just plain responsible behavior.

It is the willingness of Alpha Phi Omega members to provide a safe fraternal environment, taking care of one another, taking care of our guests, planning carefully all aspects of our programs, abiding by the laws of the Fraternity, campus, community and nation.

Simply put, it is the basic respect for the Fraternity, people, property and laws
