Will someone who is 23 qualify as Transitioning Youth?
No.To join DDA services using the Transitioning Youth category, a student is eligible from his/her 21st birthday until his/her 22nd birthday. If the date of graduation is after the student's 21st birthday, they are be eligible for one year after the date of graduation.

Do all Transitioning Youth require a CPS background check?
No - A CPS background check is only required for the employees of employers who are under the age of 18. Transitioning Youth can apply to employers who are ages 14 through 21.

Without the Initiative, students leaving the school system would be placed on a lengthy waiting list for adult services.
