How is net migration calculated?
Immigration - Emigration = Net migration
Is the RATE (the speed at which it is happening) of world population growth expected to increase or decrease in the future?
Decrease. Death rates have gotten lower as countries have become more developed. Birth rates are also lowering as well.

Australia has low population density because vast areas of Australia's interior desert are completely uninhabited or support only tiny populations. Most of the north is tropical rainforest where few people live. Australians largely occupy only the eastern edge and the southern corners of the continent. Five cities alone hold half of Australia's population.

most favorable: fertile agricultural land, abundant natural resources, water - coastline and rivers, city sites
least favorable: mountains and infertile soils, scarce natural resources, extreme climate conditions (desert, polar), isolated locations
Name and describe one of the effects of the "population boom".
-baby boomers helped drive economic growth, but are also introducing greater numbers into the health care system as they age.
-natural spaces are being cleared to accommodate more people (ex. rainforests being cut down).
