Criteria for a cirrhosis patient go to Gen Med 2 (Take your best shot!)
What are patients that have decompensated cirrhosis, concern for active liver disease, or is listed for transplant/status post-transplant should go to Gen Med 2. These patients have noticeable signs and symptoms of advanced disease such as jaundice, abdominal swelling, esophageal varices (think GI bleed!).
How often can a patient requiring non-invasive positive pressure ventilation receive albuterol if they are accepted to PCU?
They can receive albuterol at a maximum of q3h if they are on non-invasive positive pressure ventilation. PCU cannot accept patients requiring continuous or q2h albuterol AND non-invasive positive pressure ventilation.

When do ED patients require a Covid swab or RPP
Can a patient be sent from the ED to the floor with a RPP pending?
Resp PCR is not required for asymptomatic patients. If an order is placed for a patient that is not symptomatic patient can still be transferred to the room as stipulated by the Infection Prevention and Control team
No Swab is required for:
Fever with no respiratory symptoms
Isolated GI symptoms - vomiting/diarrhea
Any other swabbing would be at the discretion of the ED provider as part of their work up but not required for admission and it should not delay admission if the inpatient team chooses to order one outside of these requirements.

What isolation is needed for 11-year-old child with Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A Strep) pharyngitis?
Standard isolations. Group A strep pharyngitis or (sore throat) only requires isolation in children LESS THAN 6 years old.

If a pediatric patient is considered for transfer to an adult hospital they may be transferred without the approval of the CMO if the following conditions are met...
1. The patient is at least 16 years of age or an emancipated minor
2. The patient weighs at least 40 kg
Do immunocompromised patients require isolation
Immunocompromised patients do not require isolation as per IPC. However we should be mindful of these patient assignments.
