Class just started, and you really need to go to the bathroom. What is your best option to avoid missing any important information?
Follow the 10/10 rule (don't use the bathroom in the first ten minutes or the last ten minutes of class). Try your best to use the bathroom during breaks, lunch, or during work time.
If you really must go, raise your hand and/or communicate with staff in an classroom approriate manner so that you can get the relief and still get the information when you get back.
Who is in charge of making sure your computer is charged and ready to be used for classwork?
YOU!
You may charge your computers at the student center on the power strip or at your desk if you have access to an outlet.
You are becoming really frustrated and decide you need a break. How do you go about advocating for this, take a break and come back?
If you need a break, raise your hand/let Ms.Sarah know.
Breaks should be short 2-to-3-minute, 5-minute max- physical or mental reset breaks that take place between heavy academic blocks or long focus periods to restore energy and attention.
You can walk the hall (not disrupting other classes), sit in the zen den or reset room, stay in the classroom and utilize a calm corner, ask to have staff assist you with movement in the gym or outside, listen to a song or two, check in with a staff member, or have a snack, your options are almost endless.
What are 2 items from our classroom agreement, and what do they look like and/or sound like?
What is one reason we do a check out?
To try to end our day on a good note
To help us center and/or regulate before heading home
Same as with morning meeting:
Oh no! You just drank all the water in your bottle. What is the best way to quench your thirst without missing any classroom instructions?
Wait, and follow the 10/10 rule if you can. You can fill your water bottle during work time.
If you can't, please use the water filler in our classroom so that you don't miss out on anything important.
You have tried to log in to your computer several times, and it is not working! What should you do?
Refer to your Username/Password cards in your Quest Logs
Raise your hand for assistance/wait for work time before you ask for help
It's Recess! WHOOOT! What is the procedure for heading outside?
What are some of the reasons we communicate with your families?
What does Ms. Maria have you do to help reset the classroom before you leave for the day?
Ms.Maria has asked you to complete an assignment on your Chromebook. Where should your snacks and water bottle be?
Snacks and a water bottle should not be on the same desk or table space together. We want to avoid crumbs in your keyboard and spilled water on your technology. You can work at a community table or a flexible seating option, leaving your snack and water bottle at your desk. Or you can put your water bottle on the floor and eat before your work or after your work.
When you are using your Chromebooks during class time, what does on-task browsing or work look like?
On-Task Browsing:
Students may only open tabs, apps, and documents directly required for the current assignment.
Unapproved games, messaging, background media, or non-educational browsing result in a temporary switch to paper/pencil alternatives.
It's snowing and super cold outside, far too cold to spend 15-20 minutes safely. What can you do instead of an outdoor recess?
As a class, you can choose to go to the gym or the louge/rec room. You can have access to most things. The switch, big art projects, and misuse of equipment are not allowed.
