The 95 Theses were written by Luther to condemn the sale of indulgences and other corrupt things that the Catholic Church was doing. It was nailed to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. This was important because it was in a very visible and public location for all to see. Also it was directly put on the symbol of the institution it condemned (a church).

He thought we should go back to the time of apostles, and not have bishops. He believed all ministers should be equal (like apostles).
