The person who is accused of a crime
Who is the Defendant?
They talk about what they have seen or heard

A decision that is made at the end of a trial
What is a verdict?
The lawyer who tries to prove someone is guilty
Who is the Prosecutor or District Attorney?
This person is not required to testify in court

This means that the person has to tell the truth when they speak to the court

This person writes down everything that is said in court
What does the Court Reporter do?
The person lied when they were talking to the court
What does it mean if someone commits perjury?
This person is responsible for sentencing the defendant when they are found guilty
Who is the Judge?
They announce things to the courtroom, provide security, and make sure people follow the rules
Who is the Bailiff?
This is the best way to tell your lawyer that a witness is lying
Why would you write your attorney a note or whisper in their ear during someone's testimony?
This means that the defendant is representing themself instead of having a lawyer
