This type of mindnset is defined as "People who believe that challenges and failures are opportunities for learning, and that skills and abilities can be developed through effort and consistency"
Growth mindset
This process, called the SELFIE Method, reduces the symptoms of anxiety and depression when practiced reguarlarly. (What do those letters stand for?)
Sleep, Exercise, Light, Fun, Interaction, Eating right
This is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate towards others.
Kindness
This is the what we do with first starting to solve a problem, or what the S stands for in the STEP process.
Say the Problem
This definition means that you think skills and abilities cannot be developed, that you either have them or you don't. You also may give up easily and run away from things that are too hard.
Fixed Mindset
This is another way to say point of view
Perspective
Feeling bad for another person is not empathy, but this antonym
Sympathy
This is the second thing we do when solving a problem, or the second letter in the STEP process.
Think of Solutions
Turn this into a growth mindset statement: "I can't do this".
I can't do this yet, I can do this, I may need some help, etc.
This is defined as the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
Empathy
This is the ability to regulate your impulses, emotions, and behaviors to achieve long-term goals, often at the expense of short-term gratification
Self Control
This is the third thing we do when trying to solve a problem, or the third letter in the STEP process.
Explore the Outcomes
Change this into a fixed mindset statement "This is good enough."
I'll never be good enough, I can't do this, etc.
This is what you do if you see bullying happening at school
Report it
This is measured by how much you like and value yourself
Self Esteem
This is the last thing we do when problem solving, or the last letter in the STEP process.
Pick a Solution
Each member of the group must provide: a different word that also means Happy
Joyful, excited, delighted, bliss, proud, optimistic, ecstatic, amused, loving, playful, respected
Change this into a Growth Mindset comment: "I made a mistake. I can't fix it."
Mistakes help me learn, I can try again, I can fix this, etc.
SAFE, RESPECTFUL, and RESPONSIBLE
This answer is the number of years Ms. Soltys, who uses empathy every day, has been a counselor at Riverdale Elementary.
