Evolution was illegal to teach in school. Men in Dayton, TN planned to get attention to their town because everyone was going broke. The Science teacher, Mr. John T. Scopes, is arrested. The entire nation listens to the trial over the radio. Scopes is fined $100 and TN was remembered as a state that is part of the region known as the "Bible Belt."
