Plantarfascitis
A basketball player fell right on their knee trying to save a ball from going out of bounds. As the role over, they notice obvious deformity of the knee cap.
Patella Dislocation
A quarterback gets tackled while attempting to make a pass. He complains of numbness and tingling in his hand and his a flat deltoid.
Shoulder Dislocation
A golfer approaches you complaining of pain on the inside of his elbow. His also notes he has some numbness and tingling going down his arm.
Medial Epicondylitis
During a game of dodgeball, a player takes a ball directly to the face. He has no deformity but blood is coming from his nose
Anterior Nosebleed
A basketball player is running down the court and feels a pop in the back of his lower leg. He complains of intense pain with swelling and unable to dorsiflex his ankle.
Achilles Tendon Rupture
A soccer player complains of pain on their inner thigh after a game. They have limited ROM and pain with flexion.
Hip Flexor Strain
A football player gets tackled after making a catch. He begins complaining of chest pain and you notice his has strider.
Sternoclavicular sprain
A basketball player approaches you after the game complaining of swelling in her elbow. She states that she fell directly on her elbow after she was fouled making a layup. Her elbow has obvious swelling.
Olecranon bursitis
A baseball player take a line drive to his face. Upon inspection you notice he has obvious swelling and deformity in his mouth. He is unable to open his mouth and his lower lip feels numb.
Mandible Fracture.
A male basketball player came down on another player's foot causing excessive inversion of the left ankle. He complains of pain and has swelling.
Ankle Sprain
An 81 year old lady slipped and fell on her hip at home. She has attempted to walk without assistance but cannot bear weight on her leg.
Dislocated/Fractured hip.
A swimmer comes to you complaining of shoulder pain, especially with over head activities.
Impingement
A basketball player complains of finger pain after getting hit with a ball. He is unable to extend his finger at the DIP joint.
Mallet Finger
A cheerleader approaches you stating her eye has been bothering her all day. She states that it is itchy, she has had blurry vision, and it feels like there is something in her eye. Upon inspection you notice a small lump on her eye lid.
Stye
A female basketball player injured her right knee while landing from a rebound. There was no contact with another player. She felt a pop and immediately had pain in her knee.
ACL tear
A football player gets tackled during the game and takes a valgus blow to the knee.
MCL sprain/tear
A football player complains of shoulder pain in his left shoulder. He has had several dislocations/subluxations in the past, and states that his shoulder now catches/locks when he goes through certain motions.
Labrum Tear
A skateboarder falls on his outstretched arm and immediately complains of wrist pain
Colle's fracture.
A wrestler approaches you complaining of mouth pain and a headache. You begin checking him for a concussion, when his teammate approaches you with his tooth.
Tooth Avulsion
A soccer player gets kicked very hard on his shin guard and it breaks the shin guard resulting in blunt trauma to his lower leg. He complains of numbness and tingling in his foot.
Compartment Syndrome
Chondromalacia
Athlete takes a direct blow to the tip of the shoulder when falling to the ground while being tackled. He complains of severe pain on the tip of the shoulder and is unable to fully abduct his arm. He has an obvious step off deformity
AC joint sprain
Individuals finger shows obvious deformity. The DIP joint is permanently flexed, with the PIP is permanently extended.
Swan Neck
A soccer player scores the game winning goal off a corner kick. After the celebration you notice that she is holding her head and complains of nausea. Later that night she states her headache is worse.
