What does the morning of STAAR testing look like?

Staff members are not permitted to view the STAAR test. (Unless you are giving an oral administration. In which case you are required to "forget" whatever you have read/viewed.)
What are the options for viewing the STAAR test?

We shred all materials that have been used by the students. (We turn in all answer documents and test booklets.)
What happens to the scratch paper, used charts, used graph paper, etc. after the STAAR?

What are the main requirements for accommodation usage on STAAR?

All staff members involved in testing sign a security oath. This includes those administering tests, those monitoring restrooms and other areas, and those giving breaks/covering classrooms temporarily.
Who signs an oath?

Read the entire STAAR manual, "sanitize" testing room the day before, sign oath, attend STAAR training, etc.
What does each teacher need to do before the STAAR test?

Making sure that the children are working in the correct section of the test, walking around frequently, checking for any irregularities, answering questions about the directions, checking to see that bubbles are dark and neat, and stray marks are erased.
What is active monitoring?

Keep your materials with you or in a locked cabinet at all times.
What do I do with my materials when we are not testing?

Individual or Small Group Instruction, Reminders to Stay on Task, Amplification Devices, Projection Devices, Oral or Signed Adminsitration, Spelling Assistance, Math Manipulatives, Calculator Devices, Basic Transcibing, SUpplemental Aides, Extra Time, Large Print, Dictionary Use, Braille.

Each teacher needs to check and re-check the STAAR schedule, including small groups/accommodations, to ensure that each child has the appropriate accommodations BEFORE the day of the STAAR test.
When does each teacher need to check the STAAR schedule and student accommodations?

Abandon all testing materials (except if you have a small group, then the teacher could quickly collect materials), lock the classroom door, and evacuate everyone to safety!
What do we do if there is an emergency drill during STAAR testing?

Radio Sara and/or ask a RR monitor to radio Sara with your status...Make sure all of the scantrons are clear of stray marks and are in alphabetical order. Check the demographic information. Separate the tests from the test booklets and arrange in alphabetical order, too. Turn in any used scratch paper.
What do I do with my testing materials when my students are finished testing?

Complex transcribing, math scribe, photocopy, extra testing day. We do not have any Type TWO Accommodations on this campus. (If we did, they would require prior TEA approval.)
What are the Type TWO Accommodations?

PROCEDURAL irregularities and SERIOUS irregularities. (Both are bad... A serious irregularity is really bad.)

What are some of the most important things to remember during STAAR testing?

Children with a documented special education disability, children with a 504 designation, children with Dyslexia, children with English as a second language, and in some cases, children with SSC accommodations are all eligible for STAAR accommodations.

What does "sanitizing" your classroom mean?

Any student can have: Reading assistance on the 3rd grade math test, Highlighter or colored pencils, Materials to minimize distractions (stress ball, headphones, etc), Read aloud to self, Translating test directions, Scratch Paper, Colored overlay,Magnifying device, Place marker, Preferential seating
