Who is Caesar Flickerman? 

He is a TV show host for the Hunger Games. He interviews Katniss and each of the other tributes before they are sent to the arena. Flickerman is a natural showman whose career has spanned over 40 years.

How does Katniss obtain her knife? 

In the first few seconds of the Hunger Games, Katniss sprints toward a pack of supplies near the Cornucopia.
