What is the immune system?
The immune system is a network of cells, tissues, organs, and chemicals that fights off pathogens.

Active- Develops when your body has already been exposed to antigens from invading pathogens. Artificial active immunity comes with vaccines. Passive- the short-term immunity that comes from antibodies from another person or animal. Like Pregnancy.

What is direct/indirect contact?
Direct- contact with the thing that has the pathogens. (Ex. touching, biting, kissing) Indirect- contact with an object that has the pathogen from something else. (Ex. contaminated objects, food and water, or vectors)

What are two barriers that your immune system uses to fight off invaders?
Physical barriers such as skin, and mucous membranes, block pathogens from invading your body. Chemical barriers, such as enzymes in tears, destroy pathogens.
