100
Gray clouds that cover the lower part of the sky; rain or snow falls from them
What are stratus clouds?
100
The state of the air at a certain time and place
What is weather?
100

What is the definition of precipitation?

Any sort of water that falls from the sky.

100

What is the definition of a green house gas?

a gas that contributes to the greenhouse effect by absorbing infrared radiation

200
White, puffy clouds that look like piles of cotton; they are known as fair-weather clouds
What are cumulus clouds?
200
Instrument that shows wind direction
What is a wind vane?
200

Name 4 different types of precipitation.

Hail, rain, snow, sleet, fog, mist

200

Name 3 greenhouse gasses.

Sulpher Dioxide, Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Methane, Water Vapour.

300
Thin, feathery clouds that appear high in the sky; they are a sign that rain or snow is on the way
What are cirrus clouds?
300
Measures wind speed
What is an anemometer?
300

Explain convectional rainfall

Convectional rainfall occurs when the sun heats the Earth's surface, causing warm, moist air to rise, cool, and condense, forming clouds and potentially leading to heavy showers and thunderstorms.

300

Describe and explain one Physical cause of climate change.

Volcanoes or earths orbit.

Must be explained.

400
Cloud that forms at the earth’s surface
What is fog?
400

What unit is used to measure cloud cover?

Oktas

400

Explain frontal Rainfall

Frontal rain occurs when a warm air mass collides with a cold air mass, forcing the warmer, lighter air to rise and cool, leading to condensation and precipitation.

400

Describe and explain one human cause of climate change.

transport, factories, electricity...

Must have an explaination of how this leads to climate change.

500
Tall, dark clouds that mean thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds
What are cumulonimbus clouds?
500

What piece of equipment is used to record sunshine?

Campbell stokes sunshine recorder

500

Explain relief rainfall

Relief rainfall occurs when moist air is forced to rise over a mountain, cools, condenses, and forms precipitation. This process leads to more rain on the windward side of the mountain and a drier "rain shadow" on the leeward side

500

Describe, in detail, the greenhouse effect.

incoming solar radiation enters the earth's atmosphere. It passes through because it is short wave, electromagnetic radiation. The earth's atmosphere and surface absorb the elecromagnetic radiation and convert it into heat. This isthen rereleased into the atmosphere as long wavelength infrared heat. This is then absorbed by greenhouse gasses.
