No. Campers have to go back to their Camp Leaders for permission. Swim times are similar to a field trip in camp, responsibility of campers remains on the Camp team.

The lights go out in the pool, or we have a pool fouling during lessons, what do we do?

Grab the kids and get out of the pool, take attendance (ensure all kids are with you), go through water smart messaging. 

Do not let instructors dismiss the kids until we have confirmation about what is happening next. Find out how long we are going to be shut down and when pool can reopen.

How do you know if a lifejacket is too big or too small?

Too big: the lifejacket rises to the ears of the child (when floating in the water or when pulled up).

Too small: the lifejacket cannot be zipped up the entire way, if buckles cannot be done, or if they feel like they cannot breathe.

Can we take volunteers if we do not have the volunteer schedule?

What should we do if someone comes and we don't have the schedule?

No, redirect them to your Programmer, Coordinator and/ or MOD.

When do we give credits? Where/when will they be on the account if given?

30 minutes - 10 minutes or more

60 minutes - 20 minutes or more

90 minutes - 30 minutes of more

Someone shows up and they say they have integration support. You check the list your Programmer provided and they do not. What options are available to them moving forward? (3 answers)

1. If we have an available staff or volunteer to support the class.

2. They try the class without support.

3. They register for support through the integration barcode.

4. They can be a support for their child, but need to get a VSC completed to do so.

When should we be printing sheets for the first day? How often do we re print? How often do we check to see if they need new ones?

Before the first class on the scheduled shift to do so, check every other week, reprint specific sheets as necessary.

Please do not reprint every single worksheet if it is not needed.

A child cuts their toe on a tile in the pool during the camp swim. Who is responsible for completing the accident/incident report? Where does the report go once completed?

Deck Supervisor/Lifeguard or Camp Staff (dependent on who saw the injury and responded to it) is responsible for completing the accident/incident report. Accident/incident reports are handed to Camp Specialist or Camp Director (or Camp Leader if either are not available) directly after. 

Ideally camp receives report by end of camp swim time.

I am closing the pool because I feel I cant see the black disk on the bottom of the pool. Who needs to know about this? Who needs to be a part of the discussion before it gets to the point of needing to be closed? If there are lessons what needs to happen to ensure the participants are aware?

Print a master list, have the instructors start calling any cancelled classes and record communication on the master sheet or attendance lists. Completed lists go to your Programmer/Coordinator.

A customer arrives to your public swim with their 4 and 7 year old. Both children are wearing a lifejacket and enter the deep end and also want to use the water slide. You approach them to explain the policy, but they insist that they have been allowed to during all the other Public Swim offerings at your location. What are the steps you would take?

1. Apologize to the customer receiving the incorrect information.

2. Explain the correct policy and any alternatives that can be accommodated for the day (ie. tot slide instead of waterslide).

3. Follow up with your Programmer to ensure the same messaging is being provided across the week with all DS's.
