When sharing a document in Google, these are the 2 ways you can share a document
Paste a sharable link into an email
OR
Enter a persons name into the people field and Google will generate an email to them notifying them that they have access to the document.
This link provides the greatest flexibility in defining access to your file. You can select a different access to each collaborator and limit their access further by selecting the options to Prevent editors from changing access and adding new people and Disable options to download, print, and copy for commenters and viewers.
