A de-escalation plan gives youth and caregiver specific and concrete instructions on what to do when the youth’s behavior is escalating and/or after an event. The young person and/or caregiver will identify the things that will relax or calm them and ensure that there are skills that can be utilized in each necessary location (home, school, work, etc.).
